The growing concerns around the spread of coronavirus has led many people to cancel their traveling plans and large gatherings. Now seems like the Bollywood industry will also face a hiatus as the number of diagnoses for the COVID – 19 virus increases in India, along with the rest of the world.

According to news sources, many movies that were expected to release during the months of March and April have been shifted to a later date as movie buffs are now reluctant to visit cinema halls. Several producers are also forced to change locations and travel plans for their under production movies due to flight bans in several countries.

Renowned actors and actresses from the Indian film industry were also spotted wearing face masks during their travels in and outside the country.

Moreover, the ‘Oscars’ of the Bollywood industry – the IFFA awards are also called off. The three-day award ceremony, which attracts a large number from the Bollywood fraternity was scheduled to be held in Madhya Pradesh this year. However, the management of the IIFA postponed the event due to the fears of coronavirus outbreak.

The organizers plan to announce another date for the much-awaited event soon.

Initiated from the Wuhan District of China, the coronavirus is a respiratory illness that an individual can catch via droplets generated during coughing or sneezing. It is easily transmitted and therefore, many countries are seeking preventive measures to minimize its spread by requesting its citizens to avoid unnecessary travels and public gatherings.

As of this writing, the disease has been confirmed in 114,029 individuals with over 4,000 fatalities. The total number of coronavirus cases in India has also reached 47, causing a sense of apprehension amongst the citizens.
