Another Indian Spy Downed by Pakistan Army
Troops from the Pakistan Army managed to shoot down an Indian quadcopter in Azad Jammu and Kashmir. Furthermore, the Inter Services Public Relations tweeted that troops took down the drone in Rakhchikri. This sector is on the Line of Control.
The drone intruded up to 650 meters into the Pakistani side of the Line of Control.
Additionally, Pakistani troops downed a quadcopter after it entered Pakistani airspace in the Sankh district a few months ago. Indian military uses these quadcopters to capture images of Pakistani posts on the LoC. This is part of their intelligence operations. Moreover, they select targets through this way for shelling.
In March 2019, the Pakistan Army shot a quadcopter down in Rakhchikri. The drone had crossed 150 meters onto Pakistani soil. The news came following the Indian Air Force’s violation of Pakistani airspace. Fortunately, there were no casualties.
The Pakistan Army and Pakistani-Indian Border Tensions
Since inception, there have been tensions between Pakistan and India over border-related issues, particularly Kashmir. However, tensions resurfaced due to the suicide car bombing on February 14 2019. Jaish-e-Mohammad, a militant group in Pakistan, claimed to be responsible. Twelve days after the incident, both countries carried out airstrikes against each other.
First, India carried out an airstrike on 26th February in the KPK province of Pakistan. Pakistan followed suit with a retaliatory airstrike on 27th February. In a resulting dogfight, Pakistani forces downed an Indian warplane. Pakistani military captured the pilot of the plane. Nonetheless, they returned him on March 1st.
Pakistan and India have been in conflict since their separation. The cause of this conflict is focused on Kashmir. Both countries argue over its sovereignty.
Arguments caused wars such as the 1947 Indo-Pak war, the 1965 and 1971 wars, and the 1999 Kargil War. Today, the Line of Control marks administrative areas. Pakistan administers the northwest area. India administers the southeast territory.
