Muhammad Ali Sadpara, the celebrated Pakistani mountaineer, went missing while trying to summit the K2 with two fellow climbers earlier this month. The search for Sadpara and John Snorri from Iceland and Juan Pablo from Chile went on for days with no fruitful result on the K2 mountain.

Many took to social media and honoured Sadpara in their own way. The latest one being singer turned politician Abrarul Haq. The Billo crooner recently took to Twitter and vowed to complete the mountaineer’s dream.

“I have just heard the news that Muhammad Ali Sadpara wanted to build a school in his village after his mission,” Abrar wrote, adding, “Therefore we have decided to fulfill his dream and Inshahallah a school will be built in the village of our hero in his memory.”

Abrar’s announcement was met with appreciation from many.

Who is Muhammad Ali Sadpara?

Sadpara has the distinction of proudly hoisting the Pakistan flag on eight high-altitude peaks. He was born in Sadpara, a village at the periphery of Skardu city on February 2, 1976. The mountaineer began his career as a porter and worked his way up to climbing high peaks with expeditions.

Sadpara was part of the team which successfully achieved the first-ever winter summit on Nanga Parbat in 2016. Both his teammates, Alex Txicon and Simone Moro, have gone on record stating that they could not have done it without Sadpara’s brilliance.

In 2015, the same team had attempted to scale the Nanga Parbat in winter but to no avail. He has now climbed Nanga Parbat on four occasions.
